2016 was a very special year for the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market:
We proudly celebrated our 15th year of this magical market and and were very pleased to host a special guest from Germany who came specifically to join our festivities:
Brett McLain, of Freehand Custom Carvings, invited Florian Lindner of Germany to join in some speed carving demonstrations as well as displaying his artistry.. Brett has been sculpting wood for over 20 years, and has been a familiar face of our Market for many years. Our honored guest Florian, is recognized amongst the wood carving world as being one of Germany’s finest but is an internationally acclaimed world champion speed carver. Thank you Florian for joining us and thrilling us with your unique style in wood carvings.
Fifteen years was truly a landmark year for the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market as it was the first time that the entire length of the beautiful Boardwalk was totally sold out to vendors. In total we are welcomed over 110 vendors that were located throughout the entire Country Club property as well as in the Sparta Elks building.
It’s easy to see why the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market in Sparta, NJ continues to be ranked as “One of the Top Ten Things to Do in December in the State” – it’s simply at the top of the “to do” list for festive shoppers. This magical German Christmas Market beckons to all, with beautifully crafted and unique gifts from vendors near and afar. With the perfect backdrop of beautiful Lake Mohawk…why go anywhere else? The authentic wooden huts generously created by a local artisan, John Kweselait of Custom Wood Furniture, have simply enhanced the enchanting festive atmosphere. In the 15 years since its humble beginning of raising funds for local charities and organizations, it is now truly recognized as New Jersey’s largest Christmas Market, attracting over 18,000 to Lake Mohawk during the weekend. The German Christmas Market also continues to enjoy a special visitor – St. Nicholas, himself, and features a fun activity for children – a pony ride and petting zoo – located at the main entrance of the Lake Mohawk Country Club in the circle drive below Boardwalk level.
Park & Ride locations are provided allowing for a stress free visit. To enjoy the festivities (and to avoid possible parking tickets imposed by the police being very vigilant of local parking restrictions), many folks choose to use Park & Ride to ensure they arrive at the Market stress free. (Please note that Parking is very difficult near the Christmas Market itself as parking spaces are extremely limited and there are Police imposed restrictions within White Deer Plaza for 2 hours only). Park & Ride is available from 2 locations in Sparta and drops off directly in White Deer Plaza. For more details see Directions.
Accessible Parking is also available – see page for Directions.
Since 2001, the total donations back to the community have exceeded $190,000.
The charities and organizations being recognized from the money raised from the 2016 German Christmas Market will take place in the Spring of 2017…..watch out for details!
